Stuff like this makes me glad I'm detached from the world around me.

Which is precisely why no one in America is impoverished or ever goes hungry.

American capitalism, today, is an uncaring, greed-riddled mess and a blatant celebration of economic inequality. This is particularly upsetting when you consider that monetary wealth is no more than an idea; a series of inherently meaningless zeroes on a checking account. And yet, Americans desire this objectively worthless thing; exalt those who have more of this nothing to the status of admirable and enviable and important. Even if it potentially is this "force" for good, that sure as hell isn't how it's been wielded; not consistently.

Also, "single greatest" is both an exaggeration and a subjective idealization; I don't care what "proof" you can attach to your opinion. Because without some measure of human decency behind those celebrated deep pockets, capitalism can just as easily be a force for hurting, depriving, and oppressing or manipulating others. If anything, I think American capitalism is far better suited for just those sorts of things.

Capitalism sure is great! That's why no one in America is poor!

Also I'm hella grateful for the fact that I get to waste 12 years of my life learning a bunch of bullshit that'll never apply to any normal thing I'll ever actually do in life! Fuck getting to learn what you actually wanna learn about, that's probably what terrorists do.

All sarcasm aside, it's hard not to hate capitalism with all your heart when you've been growing up a poor teenager, like I have. Evidently, it seems you've never had to struggle with feeding yourself, Warden, and I'm glad for you. Just know capitalism is also the reason millions of families starve.

Fuck this country.

Fuck this country.

Not a single society in history has completely erased poverty. You can't. The world isn't perfect. But capitalism lifts more people out of poverty than any other economic system. Poor people in this country are much wealthier than poor people in underdeveloped countries that don't embrace capitalism. Are there exceptions? Sure.

What you learn (most of it, I do agree some stuff is stupid, common core is gay) in school can be useful in some way. You are smarter than you realize because you get to go to school everyday. Having a high school degree will make it far easier to stay out of poverty. You may not like it, but suck it up, its vital in life.

I'm sorry you have not had an easy life, but poor people in America are much wealthier than poor people in other countries. And no, I have not had to struggle feeding myself. Most people don't. Capitalism relives the suffering for the most people. I never said it did it for everyone. Life isint fair, but Capitalism is the fairest, because it rewards hard work. Communism punishes people for success, and makes everyone share the misery and poverty.

Capitalism is not the reason millions starve, it's their own choices that lead them there. My father and mother both grew up the children of poor farmers, and now they are millionaires (inb4 "wow you obviously have no idea how the world works bcuz ur parents have money") . Because they worked hard. I don't care where you are in life, you can make it better, but its not easy. Blaming the government and capitalism is a pussy excuse.

I never said I wasn't a pussy. Trollestia

Also, I wasn't saying anything about communism anymore. I was just saying capitalism fucking sucks.

I do care about proof. that's why I hate capitalism.

I've barely started reading the listverse page and it's already giving me cancer.

The top (or bottom?) point made me laugh.

I don't want to really argue anymore tbh, I'm a huge history, social studies, and politics guy, I know a lot of stuff and it's my favorite subjects to talk about. But, no one is going to change anyone's viewpoint.

>you're being hypocritical you just posted about communism

Yes, yes I did, that was in the moment, I like arguing about historic and political things, but this site isn't the place for it, I realized that.

Communism isn't an answer, yes, capitalism is flawed, as is democracy and every other form of government is, the truth is, that someone is going to be poor, it sucks but that's the way life is. Not everyone is guaranteed a job, that's life, so one will always be unemployed. And yes, sometimes the government aucks, but that doesn't mean we say "Fuck this country", it means we say "It's time for a change" and elect different candidates that will change the country for better or voice our concerns enough that they listen to us. The racial and gender equality movements didn't change everything in a day, a week, a month, or even a year, but they did it because they believe they could.

In order to do the same, we need to not give up.

I know some won't agree, and that's okay, I hope you all have a good night.

Just one last thing, I think America's beyond help, honestly.

Which is why I'm gonna try to move to Canada one day.

Let's all agree to disagree.

Why are you making statements like these?

Not always, it doesn't. Oftentimes, it does not.

Someone can work their ass off in this country and still end up being underpaid and / or underutilized, losing their job and unable to find another, and in generally dire economic straits. For some, all it takes is an especially ill-timed injury or unexpected bill. There are also people who make disproportionate sums of money for doing practically nothing. "Don't forget to like and subscribe. Don't forget to stop by my shop to get a t-shirt that says 'Obnoxious Youtuber' on it."

Today I learned that TheWarden is Diamond Tiara.

You seemingly use the hardships of people in other countries to downplay the hardships of the people in this country. You may have read about "how the world works," but you haven't personally been in a position to say half the shit you have.

Again, "working hard" isn't a guarantee of anything. I'm glad things worked out for your parents, but if you think that their example typifies the American experience, you're the one in the damn bubble.
