Oh no, I wasn't trying to, I was just trying to point out those things that suppose to stick with the plan, but was change in the last minute. I can't think another example for MLP, since my knowledge about the show itself is scarce.
Applejack was originally going to get apples by headbutting the trees, not kicking them, Pinkie Pie was going to be a pegasus based on an earlier generation character known as Surprise, Celestia was supposed to be a Queen, not a princess, Fluttershy wasn't part of the originally intended cast, and Lauren Faust thought Flutters was too girly for the show she envisioned.
Those are just some of the story changes I've read about.
Princess Luna was also originally named Princess Selena.

Hmm, that's interesting, and I am glad Fluttershy was added. The fandom would be lot different without her.

Well the name Selena is derived from a word meaning "moon" or something like that. And I agree it's a fitting choice.

It also makes me wonder if maybe the names of some characters were going to be closer to normal names.

When I get annoyed with something I usually have too many words for it, even if it's something kind of undefinable. ...I rant a lot in real life.
