Since the year is coming to a close I figured now is the best time to ask this question. For the record it doesn't have to be a movie from this year, it can just be a film, no matter when it was released, that you've seen this year.
As for me, without a doubt the best movie I have seen all year was the 1986 film Manhunter. For the layman out there it is the first cinematic adaptation of Red Dragon, the novel that famously introduced Hannibal Lecter.
I passed over the movie plenty of times previously...and I'm glad I gave it a chance this year.
There comes a point, I think, when someone finds a film that has a deeply profound impact on them. As a person. It changes how you see things in life. Even helps you to understand yourself in some ways.
Manhunter is that movie for me. I honestly can't say enough good things about it. I've seen many great films this year in particular thanks to my new found cash flow, but certainly the best I've seen is this movie.

Does it have to be a movie we saw for the first time this year?
If so, Under the Skin is my favourite from this year and my fourth favourite overall.
If not, then it'd be The Big Lebowski, which I rewatched this year and it's my second favourite overall.

Good topic idea, Kaltes.
Babe and I have seen a good number of films together this year.
"Wolf Children" was good. "Hook" was better. Because pirates. Buuuut, if I had to choose... "Lord of the Gandalf and Samwise."
xD
That's what it's called! In my book, that's what it's called. "Lord of the Shire" is also a possibility.
Oh, s*** - I forgot about the dinosaur movie. People got 'et.
That was the highlight of the film?
I'm not responsible. For how entertaining it is. When people got 'et. It's okay; they're probably fine. And if not, who's gonna complain?
Oh god. xD
"Winter Soldier" weren't half bad. Everyone be hailin' hydra.
So, your top pick?
Oh damn, boo... Puttin' me on the spot... "Lord of the Long-bearded, Spell-Slingin', Dinosaur Got Ettin', Wolfpup Raisin', Baseball Playin' Pirates. Two. The Sequel."
I don't remember seeing those.
You saw all them movies, guy.
I think my choice for best would be... Either "Wolf Children" or... Hell, I really enjoyed "The Hobbit" films. I didn't see all three of them this year, but I might be fonder of this trilogy, overall, than I am of "The Lord of the Rings."
*Shocked gasp.* Gasp! How dare you. Oh, I know what it is!
What it is? xD
It's that Bilbo Baggins. You always goin' on - shut up, stop laughin' - you always goin' on about how much better he be - I said "he be" - than Frodo Baggins.
I do think that-
Gandalf. Gandalf is the best.
He was in "The Hobbit," too...
This will brook no argument! King of the Wizards. "Lord of the Wizards."
What about "X-Men: Days of Future Past?"
Don't. No more, honey.
Gandalf was sort-of in it.
No. Magnet Man wishes he was Gandalf.
All the Equestria Girls movies.
And while I haven't seen it in it's entirety yet, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.
I haven't even watched this yet, but I know Daft Punk Unchained is gonna be one of the best movies this year.

I think I've seen that entire movie in fragments, but never in one sitting. I need to get around to that.

Man, I forgot about that documentary! I'll also need to make some time to watch that before the year is out.

Since 2016 has come to a close, I figured it'd be appropriate to post here again. The best movie I watched last year was Casablanca! Up until very recently, I'd never seen it before, but oh man, what a movie it was. Easily one of my top favourites of all time.
If you like romance and don't mind colourless films, I'd say give this one a shot if you haven't already. It's a masterpiece.
