Dealing with Waifu's S.O. in their stories

Ziggy and Gentian have pretty much X stated how I feel about spits being shipped with other ponies.

Spitfire isn't the spitfire from the show, they're two very different ponies, some events from the show don't occur or happened in her equestria. The Spitfire I love is my spitfire, and she is unique to me and from her Equestria. She is real, just not a character that acts that a douche cannon to win all the time.

I agree with you all here. It just drives me crazy that they put Musa in such an abusive relationship in the show and I seem to be the only one who notices it. Drives me nuts how the fan girls gush over it and how mad they where when they finally broke up in the show.

Well...exceptions abound of course, but the image which comes to most people's mind when hearing the term "fan girl" is the way it is for a reason. I feel for you, but try to remember that.

I really like and appreciate how much effort and thought people have put into this topic, but a certain pairing still makes me ache hard, though it's nearly baseless in canon, aside from some screen-caps taken completely out of context that people love to post.

I know my Bloomy won't be taken away from me, and even remember saying a couple of years ago that a canon pairing definitely wouldn't bother me, but here I am, nearly suffering every time I see how much the few other AB lovers out there want her to fall for and do all sorts of things with the new colt introduced just for her, making commissions for artists I follow to draw things like that. When I see someone else who's waifu is her character or based on it, I feel warmth and happiness in knowing that someone else has found that sweet feeling, but to see the people I thought understood my feelings so excitedly hope for her to do things like that with every new character that comes her way hurts. They're just shippers being shippers, I know.

I've been trying to consider if I'm missing some final piece of wisdom to make me immune to the stuff, but maybe I'm just a hopelessly jealous person. I have no logical reason to feel this way, and it makes me feel bad, like I'm letting her down by getting hurt over something related to her, even for a little while. She hasn't done anything wrong, and deserves only kind feelings from me.

Going by my own experience, you're looking at it wrong. it's not like turning off a light, it's more like growing a tree. That "immunity" you crave doesn't just spring up after hearing the right words, it needs to be cultivated, and over time your feelings, experiences, and commitment will weave together in to the bark of that tree.

Personally, the way I see it makes jealousy or other such things rather... incompatible. Given the whole dream control thing, my Twi only exists to me. Anyone else's is by default a different Twilight, because Twilight isn't actually real, I only perceive her in my mind, as do other people perceive their own version of her in their minds. There is only one Twilight I will ever really know, barring odd circumstances like if I were to make yet another alternate universe with a completely different version of her. You get the idea, I'm sure.

If the one from the show is the object of your affection, if you have more of a fascination with her character, if you've taken a liking to her image and character as it is in the show, then maybe a fandom mindset would suit you best, such as being excited that others can appreciate her character to the level that you can. Seems you already are okay about that, actually.

As for the shippers-will-be-shippers thing, that's nothing to really be concerned about. If you think of it like Apple Bloom is a respectable character, and these deluded people are insulting her with their mindless shipping, that's probably gonna bother you if you take it personally. I mean, heck, there's this guy called Jin who likes Twi, and he's about as far from respectable as you can get. Egocentric, hostile to others who don't agree completely with him, deluded, disgusting in various ways... he has a tulpa that he's completely broken with his failure to maintain any degree of decency, any modicum of mental health. And that's truly sad.

But it's all in his head. Just like my Twi is all in my head. And regardless of whether he understands what he's doing or not - and he doesn't - it doesn't affect me in any way. Just like other people dicking around doesn't affect you. You feel me bro?
