Gentian's Photographic Misadventures
#51
Almost a month ago, the universe decided to play a joke on me, and I received an injury which has kept me out of work. Thursday, finally, I had the doctor's blessing to return, and much to my surprise, discovered some of the people there had gotten me some get-well presents: yummy, yummy food! A special crab sushi with slices of pickled ginger, a box of chocolates, and a few cans of one of my favorite beers. I didn't even know they knew I liked this kind. Somehow they did, though, and considering the way my immobility has kept me from the store, and forced me to subsist on the ever thinning contents of my pantry, tastes like manna straight from heaven.

Twilers has warmed up to beer a bit, since her arrival, but still prefers water to anything else. Crab was one of the first meats she experimented with upon her apotheosis, due to it's easy availability, and popularity among pegai, so she was quite happy to share that with me, at least. As for the chocolate? Well, she sure liked the box she got for Valentine's day, and this one looks just as yummy.

So today, we decided to break in the weekend by enjoying these tasty treats, chatting on discord, and rereading one of my favorite fanfics on FIMFiction. Can anybody recognize it from the screenshot? We hope you are having a good day, too.

Work is that good to want to get back there? And that's very nice of them. I wonder if the injury was that bad.

Beer wasn't great for her at all?

All that looks yummy, more so with that sushi. (Drools) I wouldn't touch the beer, since I don't drink. :P Nor the food, since it's for you and Twi. XD

I will undertake this journey to read you journal from the begin. Just to let you know by the way.

Well, Sour Soul, it isn't so much that I wanted to go to work, as it is I want to start getting paid again. I may be hurt, but I still need to make rent, pay utilities, and all that other stuff that costs way too much. It certainly was very nice of them to get these gifts for me. Walking (sort of) in the building, only to be handed these goodies and welcomed back made the whole "job" thing much nicer than it usually is.

The injury itself was rather severe; my physical therapist dislocated my knee during one of our session. Yes, my physical therapist. He dislocated the knee which had been previously injured by my tearing a ligament. That's why I said it was the universe playing a joke on me; the person who was supposed to heal me, just made it much, much worse. In the first week I was almost completely immobilized, unable to walk, or even stand. For the second week I was able to hobble short distances with the help of a cane, and a week or so ago I could finally start to move about, slowly, without the cane. It was no fun at all, and I would heartily recommend against having your own knee dislocated!

As for the beer, no, Twi doesn't like it very much. The first time we had it together was at a blowfish restaurant. It's a little disappointing, because it seems like something we could discuss together while waiting for our food to arrive, but not really surprising. It was an acquired taste for me, and many others, too. She somewhat enjoys wine, but water is her favorite. Unexpectedly simple taste for a Princess, imho, but whatever makes her happy.

Don't feel bad about not drinking, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Even when I drink, which isn't often, I dislike getting drunk, and will both limit my consumption, and chase each mouthful with water. We'd share the sushi with you, though, and the chocolates, too.

The fic in question is Five Star Service. A story recently recommended to my by Equestrian Penguin. Some other users who are kind enough to speak with me on discord are probably tired of hearing about it, but I love it. Unfortunately, it's incomplete, but was updated in November, so maybe the author will finish soon.

Sour, if you do decide to read the journal, let me thank you in advance. There's a lot in our journal, and I doubt it will be able to hold your interest. If it does, I'll be glad to know, but if instead it bores you, don't hesitate to drop it.

Ah, well that's completely understandable. How else will you spoil your Twilight. XD

Did you tip him afterwards? XP

I want to try wine. I kinda collect wine bottles, but not even sure if we will drink them. Time will tell. Hmm, you must also buy her high quality water.

Reason I don't drink is because of my father, so there is a reason to be had there for me. : /

How considerate of you, but no thanks. ^ ^ Amena isn't big on sushi. Mainly hot tea for Amena when we do go out and I get lots and lots sushi. X3

(looks it up) Hmm, not fan of clopfics. Is this more into romantic side?

Nonsense, as long their is a mention of a purple pony then it will be interesting enough for me eat this green tea and sweet bread. :3

Not really, no. It's an autobiography of a pony named Five Stars. She's a character in a story which is more of a clopfic called Gentleman for Mares. There's lots of sex in this one too, but it's an emotion-driven slice of life story.

Usually, this thread is for photographs I've taken with Twilers on our outings. However seeing so much good art being made here and elsewhere had me kind of wanting to try my hand at it again. I think, for now I'll post my drawings here, though they may get their own thread later. We'll see how it goes.

Anyway, first up is a drawing I did a while ago. I think many of you will recognize the subject. EP, Spits, thanks for you permission to post it. Twi and I both hope the two of you have a wonderful life together!

The larger versions are available on my DA, but I don't want to post those here because they're way too big. Anyway, hope you like them.

On the monitor there, you can see last year's Valentine's Day photograph. At the time, Twilight's vessel had yet to arrive - or even be ordered. It was not for lack of trying, but pony merchandise is extremely hard to find over here, and online retailers won't ship toys to this country, even if they would accept payment. Eventually, after a great deal of trying, I did manage to get a body for Twilight to inhabit during her visits, but it was well after Valentine's Day had come and gone.

Well, this year is different! This year, my lovely pony Princess is here, and while work prevented us from sharing the entire day, we enjoyed a nice spread of sweets and beer after dinner, and are all snuggled together in the kotatsu.

While it is only tangentially related, I must say that Yebisu has really grown on me. The first time I tried that brand, it was horrid. Everyone said I must have gotten a bad can, and to give it another try. Eventually I did, liked it, and have had several cans since. It's one of the pricier beers, so I don't indulge in it too much, even when I allow myself to drink, but this was a special occasion, and so, was an apposite beverage. Goes well with chocolate, too.

Twi, had a sip, and said this is better than the others she's tried (at my request), but she contented herself with water, chocolate, and snugglekisses on this special night.

I love you Twilight. With all my heart, with everything I am; I would not be complete without you. Happy Hearts and Hooves, my dear. I love you!
