S2E7 May The Best Pet Win

Wow, I forgot how good an episode this was. Like, probably one of my favorite non-Rarity episodes. It's really good for Dash's character, has a great song, and Tank is great. Probably my favorite pet of the gang. Opal would be if they stopped writing her so aggressive... That's my only complaint about the episode, I highly dislike that Opal is always written as the meanest cat. She's a rather well behaved if not stuck up kitty, not so violent.

S2E8 Mysterious Mare Do Well

What a controversial episode. While I don't think Dash was bad in this, I do think the Mane 5, and to an extent many townsfolk, were a bit too mean to dash, it didn't quite sit well with me. This episode would have been better off if they were just direct with her, rather than, well, that. Not one of the worst episodes, but that could have been done a little better. Especially the bit with the Mane 5 laughing at Dash, I just didn't feel good watching that. Well at least tomorrow is a personal favorite of mine. Starry-Eyed Rarity Followed by... one that isn't.Despairing Rarity

S2E9 Sweet and Elite

I love this one, definitely one of my all time favorites, probably tied at number 3 with Rarity Investigates!. There's a lot I love about this one. Rari's outfits, her song, the moral, it was all great. Brings up a lot of good memories too. Like how when I first saw this how skeptical I was of Fancy Pants, thinking he was going to be a jerk. Or being surprised with the song and overjoyed. On a smaller note, I notice Opal was a bit better in this episode. Upon rewatching things, this is something I'm noticing a little bit more, about how Rari's pet acts, and it's kind of intriguing me how she ranges from just a stuck up cat to a nasty beast. Personally the former is better in my book.

S2E10 Secret of my Excess

I wasn't looking forward to this one. But in hindsight, it seems that most of my feelings just came from my distaste of dealing with Spikefans after the episode, who just spammed the climatic scene as "proof" for their ship. There really isn't anything there unless you want there to be. But something I have to admire about Rari, something I need to keep in mind, is that she wasn't a damsel in distress in the climax. I never really notice things like that. She doesn't act like someone who screams for help, she's actually mostly calm and collected in these types of situations, more so than I'd ever be. It's admirable really. Nor was she ever selfish or greedy in the episode as people like to claim. It feels nice to put this behind me finally, not worry about it so much.

S2E11 Hearth's Warming Eve

I didn't really like this one, at all. And definitely one I probably won't go back to soon. It just really didn't sit right with me. I mean, I know it was just a play, but seeing Rari act as something she wasn't, it didn't make me feel all that well at all. I know Princess Platinum was more of a character if anything and has nothing to do with who she is, but seeing her like that with no differences, it just maybe was a but too convincing of a performance so to say. I don't really like seeing her as a "villain" in that type of fashion, that's not her. But then again, it wasn't her at all, like I said, just a character she played. Still, didn't quite sit right with me, I didn't enjoy watching it.

S2E12 Family Appreciation Day

So 7, I see why you adore Apple Bloom so much, rightfully so. Rarity Wink The Apple Family happens to have good family episodes, and I think this in particular was very cute and enjoyable. Especially seeing Apple Bloom's relationship with her grandmother. Not to mention, not having Filthy Rich turn out to be a jerk was a good touch as well. Plus who could forget the cute bunny costumes!

S2E13 Baby Cakes

If I recall correctly, this is a very disliked episode, yet I don't feel why. While I dislike the way people brimg up Rarity in it, I don't the episode was bad. Maybe unfunny in some areas sure, but I think the episode was good on Pinkie and gave her a very important lesson to learn.

S2E14 The Last Roundup

I really hate this episode, and unless I do this rewatch thing again, I'm not coming back to it. It really gets under my skin in a lot of ways. Maybe because it was the first episode I didn't like, but holy crap do I just dislike it. Not only do I feel it's very bad on Applejack's character (making her leave town and avoid everyone for not the highest reasons) I feel it also does a bad job as it starts turning Pinkie into an "annoyance" type of character, which isn't like her at all. And that ending! Where do I even begin? Rainbow Dash just abandons Rarity in the freaking desert? They spend the entire time chasing after Applejack, but can't go back for Rarity and Pinkie, for the sake of a poor, unfunny gag that honestly makes Twilight, Fluttershy, Rainbow and Applejack look like complete jerks? Like even forget my love for Rari, that's just insane that they spend all that time going after Applejack, but that's too much. This episode will be one of the ones never good in my book.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to drown that out with something decent, like perhaps Rarity Takes Manehattan. That ending always just gets me, it's so bad in terms of what it implies, it's not funny at all.

S2E15 The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000

Wow. I did not recall this one being this bad. I didn't find it offensively bad like the previous one, but wow it served no point. What was the lesson? What did it accomplish? Let's look at the episode. In the beginning the Apple family doesn't have enough cider for everyone, even going so far as to say it wasn't possible to produce more, they were doing the best they could. A set of men introduce a machine that will produce more high quality cider and offers to go into business with the Apple family. With proper negotiations, the episode could have ended here. Instead, Applejack got very prideful and challenged them to make the most cider, insisting their way was better. It initially isn't, and the machine produces more cider in a fraction of the time it takes the Apple Family, so the Mane 5 help Applejack, and they make more cider than the brothers, who then resort to abandoning quality control to attempt to win. They win due to abandoning quality control, but the ponies don't like it and run them out of town, and Applejack and family have enough cider. What was the point of this? What was the lesson? There is none, it wasn't even entertaining, hell Flim and Flam weren't even proper con men. It just felt like almost a "why did that happen?" type of episode.

S2E16 Read it and Weep

I enjoyed this one quite a bit as I feel it provided a good look at Rainbow Dash, while still maintaining a relatively silly atmosphere. I liked the switching back and forth between the book and the "real world" as well. Good on the episode for showing another side of Rainbow I'd say.
