An episode a day

Yeah they had a good design I'd say. I thought the first group, the viking ponies at least had good designs. The last group I thought were pretty generic though I'd say.

S7E17 To Change A Changeling

I don't think this one really had a lot going for it. I think it made Starlight look a little bad in some instances, and I have to say, I think I'm not really enjoying a lot of Trixie's attitude more and more. For me though, I guess the biggest fault for me was the new changelings. I just feel like I lack any interest or care in them. I'm not really interested in changeling culture, their designs at least feel a bit better but most of their voices are annoying. I also need to check, but I actually think this is the first episode with no M6 characters. So huh. I wouldn't say every episode needs them all (though you know how I feel about the premiers and finales) but I think the focus on the new changelings maybe can be stepped back a bit. I'm kinda hoping the S7 finale doesn't involve them, I'd rather see something else.

S7E18 Daring Done

It occurs to me I didn't do anything with this one yet. Well... I felt like it was another "meh" one. I don't think these "Real life Daring Do" ones are great (considering Dash could have just asked that she just kept writing stories), it seemed a bit silly. Also, I found it rather out of character for Dash to be captured so easily without a fight. It just didn't seem like her, with how headfirst she is at times. The legend also seemed a bit silly, but hey everyone seems to find the Egyptian ponies cute.

S7E19: It Isn't The Mane Thing About You

It was hard to watch the first time, as of course I never like seeing her unwell. But at least this was less over the top than Fame and Misfortune. I think the writing could have been a tad better, but I do believe this to be one of my new favorite episodes. I was initially worried about it being cruel to her, and I think it was the opposite, rather showing the good of her. And I found that really motivating. It shows how good her character is too, and I think the episode did a good job showing her kindness to others. Really, I enjoyed this one, it's a nice highlight for me, and maybe just what I needed. I think I'll try to watch it a few more times.

Also I do need to plush that new outfit.

S7E20: A Health of Information

I felt this one was alright, and probably the best of the "legend" episodes that have come. I thought the lesson was good too, and I will say, I felt turning into trees was very dark for an MLP cartoon. I don't know, something about that made me wince at the thought of. Doesn't sound pleasant at all. Also, seems like Zecora is finally becoming somewhat relevant again. Odd, since she hasn't really done anything since that alternate timeline in the S5 finale. I will also say, I have some concerns with the finale and with the connection to these legend things it seems to try to set up. I mean, why would they only build episodes around two, but then dump the rest in a "campfire story" episode? If they're trying to relate them each to one of the mane 6, they could have done a much better job with that, by splitting up those campfire ones a bit. But I guess that's dependent on how this plays out. That being said, I also have serious concerns about the scale of the finale, it would be pretty lame to have a giant finale right after the big movie. Going back to, like I said, they should have went on hiatus.

I agree the tree thing was very dark. It doesn't fit what we know about the world, either. Zecora's lived in the swamp for years, how does she not know about those flowers? Celestia is a thousand years old, minimum, and lived in a castle in the Everfree, how does she, and by extension, her prized student living right next to the Everfree not know about them? Why was Twilight so OoC in trying to sleep when her friend was turning into a tree? How did Fluttershy out-research her? That's OoC for both of them.

All in all, I felt this episode was too dark, too OoC, and too nonsensical. Bleh.

S7E21: Marks and Recreation

Well I'm quite a bit behind.

What can I say, it was a CMC episode. Nice to see some continuity follow up from that one episode with the books (though thankfully not directly referencing it continuously making it easy to ignore.) The song I'd say was a bit better than some other this season because it at least blended into the episode, but that being said, I still think I'm rather unhappy with the song distribution of this season. Is it because of the movie? I'm assuming so? Let's see how S8 is.

S7E22: Once Upon A Zepplin

Has this been the first Twilight episode this season? Oh my. Well, it was an alright one, though I question the choice to let Spike do her work in her absence. But the return of Iron Will was very much appreciated and quite fun. And I'd say the highlight of the episode was seeing a bit more of Twilight's family, particularly her parents, more parent stuff is always fun. Really would like to see more of that later on, especially with Rarity's parents. And of course, Iron Will demonstrates the important of always packing your parachute

S7E23: Secrets and Pies

This was a pretty straight forward and simple one, I suppose. Though quite odd, as I found myself questioning if Rainbow Dash really never ate a pie in show. In fact, come to think of it, despite it being in her name, I never thought Pinkie baked pies in the show prior either, I thought Applejack was the one who made any. Still, that being said, it was a pretty nice and simple episode.

Though, while watching it, something occurred to me that I think I noticed as a problem with S7. I suppose I'll go into it more when the finale airs depending how that plays out, but in my book, I think it's something that I really hope changes quickly.

S7E24: Uncommon Bond

I didn't think this was a good one honestly. I think it really shows why Sunburst isn't that good a character. And I personally don't like him with Starlight either, and I'm sorry for any Starlight lovers here. And honestly, that one line at the end where Starlight says "All my friends" without any of the Mane 5, yeah that did kinda bother me a bit. But it just seems like an episode that was easy to just write off and not think too much about, there wasn't much merit to it I feel at least.
