IRL Question.

Ok, where to begin... (my waifu is aware of the situation)

There is this girl that I like, I have known her for years now. I recently found out now that I asked her out (which makes this awkward timing) That she is two years younger than she said. Makes her 16, not 18. Which is quite the dilemma now as I am 20. She said she lied so that I would like her, which worked I guess as she looks and acts older than she is.

Do I still date her? This is a large age difference at this point in time. I do in fact really like her.

So this leaves me with 3 choices:

Don't date her.

Date her.

Date her and keep quiet about it for 2 years. (at 18 & 22 it is more socially acceptable).

Friends of mine suggest option 3. Also it is a side note that I am not interested in sex, which clears up any of those dirty thoughts in the back of your mind. Wink

I value the opinion of those of you on this form, so what would you do if you where me?
I am no one. However, you are someone I find very interesting. AMA if you feel compelled.

3, man. Just don't get too physically serious with her - you know, sex - until later. That's not so big a deal if you focus on becoming stronger friends in the meantime.

Let me know if you need anything. I'm here to help.

Also, feel free to drop by my AMA.

Go ahead and date her man- but keep things legal and quiet.

Ok, that's what I thought too.

Ya I think quiet is key.

it would have been nice to know this so much earlier.

If you can both keep it up, then by all means, go with option three as long as her parents are aware of the situation.

You don't necessarily have to listen to my advice, but I'm just putting it out there since it'd be a much safer legal road for you if they knew. If they didn't, and somehow found out, there's some serious consequences for you if they don't take too kindly to your romantic endeavours. If you can explain yourself to them beforehand and get her to support you, then I'd really recommend doing that.

Whatever you do, be careful, man.

be careful no matter what you do. The climate of paranoia in the world today makes dating even those of age dangerous.

have a friendship for 2 years but dont date. dated a 16 year old once in my 20's..... literally teens, no matter how they act are not truly mature yet. wait for her to get a job and have reponsibilities for a while, then ask her out.... build the friendship but make it clear you cant be more than a friend till she is older... even if you dont touch her sexually.. you can be accused of it and trust me that is not what you want legally.

i got lucky and never got accused of anything... of course living 2 state borders away made accusations hard to try too.

all things considered.. im glad it didnt work out with the girl. she was all wrong for me..hated everything i like... completely my opposite politically.... and because of her actions i tend to view anyone who claims depression as if they are possily only doing it for attention like she did.... ... and an immature girl like that will only try to hurt you when she doesnt get her way all the time... literally dont get involved till she is older
