Poems for the Sweetest of Ponies

Depends on the poem, they usually range anywhere from 15-45 minutes. I’ve always loved poems, and I was writing love poems even before I was ever in love. Kind of odd, but true. Although, my poetry has been much better since I met Candy- inspiration can mean a lot.

Do you dare me to share my love
Do you want me to write of love?

The thing that holds me to the fire
That is the power of your love

That which is my true desire
That is my need for love

The thing which eats at my heart
That is the cost of love

That which breaks me when we’re apart
That is the breadth of love

The thing which makes a grown man cry
That is the sorrow of love

That which makes me continue to try
That is the hope of love

The thing which makes our hearts soar
That is the joy of love

That which we are living for
That is the purpose of love

The thing which makes us reckless
That is the foolishness of love

That which provides long-lasting contentedness
That is the wisdom of love

I would share all of our love
Alas, no void could contain our love

...

Candy, I hope you receive joy
From this belated Valentine’s day
And I hope you know I send my love
In my own unique way

For though you live away, my darling
Though we may be physically apart
The joy and tenderness you’ve lent me
Constantly lives in my heart

The clock ticks to 12 am
Sleep may find me, peace will not
I cannot find you

An elusive wind blows
Directly atop my forehead
I wish it to be your breath but, alas

The roar of the city on the street
No sweet lullaby to soothe me
I cannot hear you

Hark, a sweet smell I sense
That of vanilla, a sweet fragrance
But it is too artificial to be as I hoped

In these darkest moments of despair
I wonder what I have done wrong
I ask if I’m truly meant to be your love

But then a gentle caress I feel
I can hear a sweet voice and smell perfume
And I know that we are in love

A time for birth
It is the spring
Into joy and mirth
The world does swing
And for it’s worth
My soul sings

Of your timeless love
Of joy and frivolity
The song of the dove
Time made quality
Love from above
A new sentimentality

Oh, how the world does stop
When in your arms
My heart simply flops
At your many charms
For love that tops
And means no harm

In marital bliss
Someday we’ll reside
With an awe-struck kiss
You may be my bride
Never again shall we miss
I shall remain at your side

What say you, my dear
What compels your heart so
What banishes fear
Why does temptation hang it’s head low
Could it be that you’re near
And love me also

It is true
Oh what utter rapture!
Who would’ve had a clue
That your heart I could capture
We shall never be blue
Our hearts never to fracture

As the dew kisses the morning at first light
As the moon watches over us by night

I will watch over and love you, my dear
Until the time in which we may live together is near

The wind whispers to the plains
In sweet, melodious refrains

So shall I sing to you, dear one
To remind you that our lives together have just begun

The sun dries away the world’s tears
And shines out protection against its fears

I shall hold you in my embrace, my sweet
Until the threat of darkness is complete

Flames clean the soil for forests to grow
Spread out by the winds as they blow

So shall the passion in our hearts keep burning
As for each other we are always yearning

So as nature loves itself so
Oh darling, don’t you know?

I will do twice as much for the sake of you
So that our days together may never be through.

When the sun sets on the prairie
I sit with the mare I want to marry
And we talk about how time’s flown by

But I wouldn’t take a second back
And I’m content, even with all that I lack

For at least I know she’s mine

With eyes that sparkle and shine
And those lips, like sweet red wine
I knew it was a long shot to even try

But somehow I struck it rich
Somehow it all went without a hitch

For now I can spend my forever with a love so true

Before I was was lonesome and blue
Before There was no romance that I knew
Which could save me from the despair in my heart

But she opened her heart to me
She allowed our love to be

And that, to me, is the sweetest part

The dew kisses the sunrise
With lovers’ bliss
A time of our short lives
Which I would never miss

Your eyes open softly
Two obsidian isles
Trapped amid azure seas
Joy amidst mundane trials

Your sweet lips
Open to greet me
Why am I so blessed
As to be loved so completely?

The morning is a magical time
That is a sure truth
May nothing take us from it
Of steal from us our youth.

Here, my dear
Near, so you may hear
Steer, clear of all fear

Tonight, all will be right
Delight, in soft candlelight
Tight, I will hold my lover by night

Day, just another way
Say, that we will be O.K.
Lay, in late to avoid the fray

Hearts, never apart
Tart, no never, though still in love, smart
Restart, but we will never depart

Done, it will never be, hun
Fun, love in the summer sun
Run, into my embrace, dear one

Said, that I’d be in your head
Led, in lovely stead
Fed, is my love, never dead

Grace for you until I see lace
Trace every beautiful feature of your face

To gaze into your eyes
To feel your embrace
Oh what a prize
What joy do I face
Each day when I rise
What a pleasant place
To be in the moment with you

To hear your soft sighs
To cuddle you close
Would it be wise
Do I dare boast
I surely wouldn’t tell lies
If I said you loved me most
As I love you, through and through

Oh, how your devotion defies
All desire to be untrue
Your love, how it never lies
How it pulls me in towards you
And the glimmer in your eyes
Can bring our future into view
And I only hope I entice you so, too

When I carry you across the threshold
When your life and mine intertwine
When my future you can mold
And I can propel you through thine
Oh what pleasures does our marriage hold
In the sunny afternoon of a future time
In which we both say “I do”

What truth do we know
In our lovers’ hooves
Like a river does flow
And so it proves
That only lovers show
Those inherent truths
Only love puts them in view

Why is there such devotion
How have we fallen so far
Into loves bewildering ocean
Bottling kisses into a jar
Stirring up venerable emotion
Cuddling each other from afar
Oh, I pray that I am not left blue

What would I do if you leave me
There is no way I could survive
It is for the love of only thee
That I continue to strive
It’s your embrace in the lonely hour
That helps me to survive
All that I do, it is for the love of you.

The orange glow of the sun
Melts above a world hewn of pure ice
I lay close to you as the alarm sounds
Now, isn’t this paradise?

As I rush for the door
There is one thing I could never miss
I embrace you tight one more time
And share the morning’s last sugar kiss

All the day through
As I slave away for us
I know it’s the right thing to do
I know that I simply must

But I long to stay at home
Close by your side
I only wish that my fate
Could so abide

However, that makes it
All the more sweet
When I finally punch the clock
When my day is complete

Once again I’m home
An angel lying next to me
And in paradise such as this
I hope that I always will be
